Responsible contribution

An image begins with its owner’s rights

Before accepting a file, the atlas needs a clear path for ownership, consent, privacy, description, and review. This page explains readiness and collects nothing.

  1. Establish the contributor’s relationship to the image

We need to know the owner or permission holder, not merely that an image circulates online.

  2. Separate what is known from what is uncertain

Place, date, people, and photographer remain distinct fields with visible confidence states.

  3. Protect people and families

Names, identities, private locations, and sensitive testimony require consent and review.

  4. Record permitted uses

Display, translation, cropping, downloading, and further reuse must be covered by specific permission.
